Bhubaneswar: Movie buffs have reason to cheer as Odisha-born Prem Parrijaa is all set to headline action-thriller based on Vidyut Jammwal starrer Commando series. The teaser of the latest edition of the franchise was out on Disney+ Hotstar today.

The debutant Prem will be seen in the lead role alongside ‘The Kerala Story’ fame Adah Sharma in the web series based on Commando.

“I have been living with this dream since I was 11. I had this desire to be an actor. And I’ve been in Bombay for 10 years. And fortunately, every path that the almighty has led me on since then, has been a road to this," the Bhubaneswar-born actor expressed.

After finishing his 10th standard from St Joseph’s in Bhubaneswar, he moved to New Delhi and completed his intermediate from DPS, RK Puram followed by Bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Hans Raj College.

“I found my footing in the dramatics society of Hans Raj College performing plays all over the country during that time. I worked as an Assistant Director in Bollywood for eight years, from 2013-2021. This apart, I received training in ‘method acting’ from The Lee Strasberg School of Theatre and Film, New York. During my journey as an AD, I was fortunate to learn from some of the most fantastic actors – Manoj Bajpai, Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi, John Abraham, Farhan Akhtar, and Rajkumar Rao, among others. And all of these things that I imbibed from these bonafide stars came very handy when I was the one in front of the camera,” Prem narrated.

Filmmaker-producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is set to take his Commando movie franchise forward with this web series.

Shah said that Commando is the story of a visionary hero and his journey of bravery, patriotism and brotherhood.

"A power-packed action and drama, 'Commando' is sure to grip the audiences. Roping in Prem to essay the role of the ultimate Commando was an incredible journey we embarked upon. He is extremely talented and slips into the character with ease. Moreover, collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar once again was a great experience," Shah said.

Apart from Adah Sharma, the high-octane action drama stars Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Shreya Singh Chaudhry, Amit Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sial, Mukesh Chhabra and Ishteyak Khan. It is produced by Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd.

Action hero Vidyut Jammwal had played the lead in all the three Commando franshise. The first film, Commando: A One Man Army, was released in 2013 followed by sequels – Commando 2: The Black Money Trail and Commando, released in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
