Bhubaneswar, Jun 16:
As part of its probe into yet another murder case in the Odisha capital, Commissionerate Police is looking for the live-in partner of the deceased engineer Gyana Ranjan Baral. Commissionerate Police DCP Satyabrata Bhoi himself reached the spot yesterday to lead the investigation.
The cops had lodged a murder case based on the complaint of the father of the deceased Dinabandhu Baral. Gyana’s body was retrieved at 11 PM on June 12 from MIG-2, 45/5 in Chandrasekharpur housing board colony in the city. The body was found with a telephone wire wrapped around the neck.
“We are awaiting the post-mortem report. Action will be taken once we have the report,” said Chandrasekharpur Police Station Inspector DS Pratap.
While parents of Gyana have been pointing fingers at his business partners, cops are also looking into the possible involvement of his live-in partner, who has gone missing since the incident.
It may be noted that Gyana used to run a software company, along with his friends Nutan and Surath, in Gajapati Nagar area of the city and used to stay with them in Mahavir Enclave. Earlier, he had a fight with his business partners. The dispute was sorted out after it reached the police.
Gyana was also in a live-in relationship with a windowed lady since past three months and used to stay in the Chandrasekharpur housing board colony with her. The lady, who always used to cover her face while outside, claimed to the neighbours that they were married.
Gyana’s father Dinabandhu, however, claimed no knowledge of any marriage between them.
The lady has gone missing since the incident and cops are not ruling out her involvement given that the incident happened at the house where they lived together. Her identity is yet to be established and her whereabouts yet to be traced.
