Technical snag in OPGC unit : Parts of western Odisha remain sans power

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Ib Thermal (Jharsuguda), June 8:

While the entire western Odisha is reeling under intense heat wave, the plight of the people in most parts of the region has become miserable as the Unit-1 of the OPGC run thermal plant went out of order due to leakage in the boiler tube early on Saturday morning.

Sources in the plant said the Unit-1 and Unit-II of the power plant with the output capacity of 210 MW each were on in the early morning hours when the Unit-1 suddenly went out of order.

When contacted, the plant officials said the repair of the leakage would be done after the boiler unit cools down, something that would take over 48 hours.

Going by the earlier incidents in which the plant officials had taken more time to sort out the problems in these power units, it could take even more time for them to fix the problem, sources said.
