Teenage Odisha girl held captive, gang raped for days; hospitalised

Cuttack: In yet another shameful incident of minor girl being raped in Odisha, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly held captive and gang raped by five miscreants for more than two days here.

The incident came to the fore after a complaint was lodged with Government Railway Police (GRP) by Child Line officials today.

Sources said the girl, a resident of Bantala area of Angul district, had come to Cuttack on Saturday with two fellow villagers to participate in a rally. The two villagers had kept her in a house in Mangalabag area here. On the fateful night, five persons, who were staying nearby, barged inside the house and took turns to rape the minor girl.

Later, the girl managed to escape the place today and reached the railways station here, where Child Line officials rescued her and brought the matter before the GRP.

On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been filed in this regard and investigation has already begun, sources added.

The survivor alleged that she was sold by the fellow villagers for a ransom. Meanwhile, she has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.

“The girl was kept in a home after the rally and around four men have raped her,” said Child Line member Amiya Biswal.

However, no police official was available to comment on the matter.
