Tehsildar arrested by Odisha Vig for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe. Here’s details

Udala: Odisha Vigilance sleuths today arrested Kaptipada Tehsildar Sarat Chandra Mallick for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh.

According to reports, Mallick had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from Hemanta Kumar Behera, owner of three tractors, to ensure convenience and no harassment for the latter during transportation of sand from Sono river bed for three months using the 3 vehicles. The official asked for Rs 1 lakh as advance from the tractor owner.

Behera informed the matter to the anti-corruption agency following which a trap was laid by the Vigilance and the Tehsildar was caught red-handed at his residence here while receiving the amount from Mallick.

The Balasore Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
