Bhubaneswar, Nov 8:
A delegation of the Odisha Administrative Service Officers Association today met Home Secretary Asit Tripathy in the State Secretariat today in connection with BJD Begunia MLA Prasanta Jagadev’s alleged assault on Bolagarh Tehsildar Niharika Nayak.
The delegation demanded action against the accused MLA.
“Home secretary has assured of action against the accused,” informed Association president Saroj Samal after the meeting.
It may be noted here that Nayak had met Revenue Secretary Mona Sharma yesterday and had apprised her about the alleged assault on her by Jagadev. Nayak had reportedly sought her transfer from Bolagarh.
It may be recalled here that Jagadev had allegedly thrown a lantern at Nayak on October 31 after the MLA asked her to conduct eviction from an encroached land at Ekadalua village in Bolagarh Tehsil during night.
The Tehsildar had replied to the legislator that eviction can be carried out next morning after measurements and other formalities. The MLA got irritated and threw a lantern at Nayak which hit her body, the Tehsildar had alleged.
Later, an FIR was filed by Nayak against Jagadev accusing him of assaulting her while she was discharging her official duty.
