Tehsildar tests positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar; office shut

Bhubaneswar: The Tehsil office in Bhubaneswar was closed after the Tehsildar tested positive for COVID-19 here in the State capital.

Including Tehsildar, total 9 employees at Tehsil office have been infected with the coronavirus in Bhubaneswar so far.

Following detection of COVID-19 cases, the Tehsil office has been shut till August 23 for sanitisation.

Besides, the Sub Registrar Office located at Kalpana Square and Office of Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar, have been closed till August 21 after some employees of the offices have tested positive for COVID-19.

While 4 employees of Bhubaneswar Sub-Collector Office have been diagnosed with novel coronavirus, 6 employees of Sub Registrar Office have been found positive for the deadly virus. The three offices will open on August 24 due to weekend shutdown on August 22 and 23.

The COVID-19 test has been conducted on around 99 percent employees at Bhubaneswar Sub Registrar Office, Bhubaneswar Tehsil Office and Sub-Collector Office. Similarly, the employees of Bhubaneswar Block Office and Yatri Nivas have undergone COVID-19 test and these offices have been disinfected to contain spread of deadly virus, said Bhubaneswar Sub-Collector Debabrata Sahoo.
