Currently, the temperature is recorded high in day time. It is likely to increase further towards end of Panchayat polls in Odisha, the MeT sources said.

Not only in coastal, western and southern parts, but also the people in interior Odisha will experience the heat from Feb 20.

According to the MeT, currently the temperature is confined between 28 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius during day. It is recorded 20 degree Celsius in night time. However, it will soar up to 35 degree Celsius or 38 degree Celsius from Feb 20.

The weather will be changed after 3-4 days in the state. There will be heat wave either from south-west or west direction increasing the temperature across Odisha. As the cold still prevails over some parts of the state, the scorching heat will be unbearable for the people after sudden rise of temperature, said Sharat Chandra Sahoo, Director, Bhubaneswar MeT centre.

There may be shallow fog over some parts of the state due to heat on the surface and cold in the upper atmosphere. This will be reason behind increasing the temperature. However, there will be no increase in night temperature, he added.
