Ten-wheeler truck crushes two after collision with motorbike in Odisha

Balasore: A truck ran over a motorbike near Chitapada diversion on NH-16 under Khantapada police limits, killing one and critically injuring another this morning.

The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Manas, son of Umesh Chandra Mallick of Bhaluka village under Kasabajaya panchayat. The injured woman is the 35-year-old Kavita, wife of Karunakar Mallick of the same village.

According to reports, Manas was going to Khantapada market, this morning when he met Kavita on the way and gave her a lift. They were heading towards the highway when a ten-wheeler truck speedying from Bhadrak to Balasore rammed into their motorbike.

The impact of the crash sent both the riders flying and Manas and Kavita were crushed under the right and left wheels of the truck, respectively.

Locals rescued both the victims and rushed them to Khantapada Community Health Centre where the doctor declared Manas dead. A seriously injured Kavita was immediately transferred to Balasore District Headquarter Hospital.

Khantapada police have seized both the vehicles involved in the accident.
