Tender for Baramunda Inter State Bus Terminal gets Cabinet nod

Bhubaneswar: Construction of an Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda likely to take off soon as the state Government today approved a tender for the project.

As pat of the project, a bus terminal will be developed at Khandagiri for shifting of the the existing Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) depot from Baramunda.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been entrusted with the development of the project on EPC mode on the basis of a transparent bidding process. M/S Bridge and Roof Company India Ltd, a Government of India undertaking, will execute the project at a cost of Rs 160,66,54,000.

Apart from idle bus parking space for 190 buses, the ISBT Baramunda will have public parking space for more than 250 four-wheelers and about 175 two-wheelers.

The project aims at developing a state-of-the-art bus terminal with all necessary facilities for passengers as well as buses. The project will explore and generate revenues from non-fare box sources to make it sustainable.

The project will not only improve the public transit system in the city but also connect many capital cities and business centres in other states, said an official.
