Hatigarh: Tension ran high at Hatigarh Community Health Centre (CHC) in Balasore district of Odisha after a patient died allegedly due to medical negligence.

According to reports, Gangadhar Mahanta of Sankhabhanga village under Sardarbandh panchayat was rushed to the Hatigarh CHC under Jaleswar Block after he had suffered from diarrhea yesterday.

His condition deteriorated at night. However, the doctors were not present at the hospital for treatment. He passed away in wee hours of today.

The family alleged that the patient remained unattended at the hospital as there was no doctor on duty during the night hour following which he died.

Following the incident, the family members of the deceased patient created ruckus at the hospital over the death due to medical negligence.

One of the family members of deceased said, "The doctor did not visit the hospital at night. Nobody attended to the patient. Even the sweeper was found sleeping inside an AC room of the hospital. Our people died due to negligence of doctors."
