Jeypore: Tension prevailed at a girls’ residential school at Kaudiaguda under Kundura block in Koraput district after a Class-VIII student died today.

Sources said the girl was taken at around 2 am today, following which she was rushed to Kunduru Community Health Centre (CHC). She was later shifted to a hospital in Jeypore after her condition deteriorated. However, she was declared dead by doctors.

The body has been sent for post-mortem. The exact cause behind the death will be ascertained once the report comes in, said police.

Meanwhile, angry locals have demanded compensation for family members of the deceased.
