Tension over patient’s death at CHC in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Tension gripped Junagarh community health centre (CHC) in Odisha’s Kalahandi district following the death of a patient allegedly due to negligence in treatment today.

According to reports, one Radhamohan Patel (18) of Kelo village here was admitted to the CHC last night after he complained of stomach pain. However, he took his last breath while undergoing treatment at the hospital today.

The family members of Radhamohan have alleged that lack of proper treatment at right time led to his death. Sources said, the kins of Radhamohan called a doctor to attend him when his pain intensified late last night. However, the doctor didn’t come and told them that Radhamohan will be fine.

Following the death of Radhamohan, locals and relatives of the patient staged a dharna by keeping the body in front of the CHC main gate. They demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased and action against doctor Champak Meher who allegedly tried to shift the patient to Bhawanipatna hospital.
