The all-season popular beverage you can’t live without

Bhubaneswar: Coffee is an indispensable partner in our everyday life. Most of us can’t start our day without coffee. Be it a date or to beat Monday blues, coffee has the ‘superpower’ that help us jump-start the day.

October 1 is observed as International Coffee Day to celebrate the beverage. In October 2015, the day was first launched in Milan, as agreed by the International Coffee Organization. The day promotes fair trade to raise awareness about the terrible condition of coffee growers across countries. Coffee shops around the world offers deals and discounts on the varieties of the beverage.

There are various types of coffee available in the market to satiate your taste buds-latte, cappuccino, filter coffee, espresso, irish coffee and many more. However, caffeine, has both beneficial as well as adverse effects on the human health.

Benefits of Coffee

-Caffeine is proven to reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases and improve mental alertness and mood. It works as a powerful stimulant for the central nervous system.  Caffeine, which is is highly anti-oxidant, also improves performance in both simple and complex tasks.

-Coffee are energy boosters, it elevates human energy levels. It also helps in losing weight, due to its high concentration of caffeine in it.

-It has been observed in studies that people who drink the most coffee have a significantly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. It also has much lower risk of cirrhosis, which can be caused by several diseases that affects the liver.

-Coffee lowers your risk of developing depression and may reduce the suicidal risk. Reasonable consumption of coffee is associated with lower risk of stroke.

Disadvantages of Coffee

-Bad quality of coffee have lot of impurities in it which leads to sickness, headache, nausea, vomiting and jitters and irritability.

-Drinking coffee too much in a short span of time can be proved risky and can kill you. Coffee can lead to insomnia and restlessness. If you are pregnant, when you consume coffee, it would reach the fetus and babies are highly sensitive to caffeine.

Coffee production in India is being dominated by Southern States. In Odisha, it is being produced in Daringbad,  known as the Kashmir of Odisha . Daringbadi is one of the youngest coffee plantation in India, followed by Chintapalli in Himachal Pradesh and Assam.
