Bhubaneswar: The year 2017 saw budding talents from Odisha leave a mark on the reality television show stage. Though none was crowned winner, the performances were impressive enough to make the judges and viewers stand up and take notice.
And what's better time that the remaining last few days of the year to again feel the joy of the splendid show put up by these youngsters, bringing recognition to the state and making us proud. Let's celebrate their achievements while bidding farewell to 2017.
Satyajeet Jena - This 12-year-old boy from Keonjhar, mesmerized the judges with soulful rendition of 'Milo ho tum humko' in the audition round and was among the top contenders in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs telecast on Zee TV. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik too had appealed to the audience to support him. However, he had to quit midday as his voice was in a transition phase. Satyajeet was the highest voted Lil Champ on the day he left the show.

Barnali Hota - This April, singing sensation Barnali Hota from Odisha along with the Mumbai-based band Euphony was declared the first runners-up at the grand finale of popular music reality show ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, aired on Star Plus.

Jyoti Ranjan Sahu - Flexible and fit, this boy from Bhubaneswar, made it to the top 7 of the dance reality show Super Dancer 2, judged by Geeta Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap and Shilpa Shetty. The mini yoga baba, as he was fondly called on the show, won accolades for almost all his performances.
Bhumika Ray - The 14-year-old student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Balasore, impressed the judges at Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs with her melodious 'Aao na gale lagao na' and got through to the next level. She received a standing ovation by the judges for her performance.

Sabyasachi Satpathy - The TV anchor from Odisha, popularly known as 'Shagoon', was selected for Big Boss as a commoner contestant. He appeared as the 'padosi', a troubleshooter for the contestants. He was evicted two days after being appointed the captain of the house. The show's host Salman Khan had also hinted at Sabyasachi’s elimination for keeping a low profile.

Sunil Kumar Tandi - A district welfare officer posted at Odisha's Sundargarh, he walked away richer by half a crore from the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 9, the much-talked-about TV quiz show telecast on Sony Entertainment Television. Sunil of Balangir completed 14 out of the total 16 rounds with ease. However, left with no more lifelines, he chose not to proceed further.
