Theft in Rituparna Sengupta’s house: Accused nabbed from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A special squad of Odisha police arrested a person from here in connection with a theft case following a complaint by the renowned Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta in Kolkata.

The accused was identified as Bodhisatwa Bhattacharya. He was nabbed from the Hotel Arya Palace on Wednesday night.

He is accused of stealing cash of Rs 1.5 lakh, a laptop and other valuables from the house of the Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta in July. He was absconding since the period.

Police sources said that Bodhisatwa was demanding Rs 5 lakh from the actress to return her laptop and other valuables. The accused has been handed over to Kolkata police. He will be produced in the court by the Lake Police and subsequently taken on a transit remand for interrogation.

According to reports, the police initiated manhunt operation to nab the accused after the actress Rituparna had lodged a complaint alleging theft from her house in Kolkata in July.
