They should use their ‘intelligence’, Odisha CM reacts on AI use allegations

Bhubaneswar: Making light of the allegations that Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is using artificial intelligence (AI) to convey his video messages, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo had a piece of advice for his political rivals.

Patnaik advised the BJP leaders to use ‘intelligence’ while reacting to their allegations today.

“It is a good thing. They should also use intelligence,” the BJD supremo said in short video.

The Chief Minister had earlier released a series of video to counter the allegations of Opposition leaders on various issues amid the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Samir Mohanty raised questions regarding the authenticity of such short videos.

“Allegations and counter-allegations on various issues are common in democracy as well as in electoral politics. The Chief Minister has released several short videos. But, the people are not sure whether the Chief Minister is making statements himself or AI technologies are being used to produce such videos,” Mohanty said.

To substantiate his allegations, the BJP leader pointed out that the BJD supremo was unable to speak much in public meetings due to his ‘poor health’.

“The Chief Minister is making very brief speeches at public meetings. He is also taking the help of written scripts for making his short speeches. We believe that the BJD is taking the help of AI technologies to create the short videos,” Mohanty alleged.

Earlier, BJP national vice-president Baijayanta Panda had also alleged that the aides of the BJD supremo were using deepfakes and AI technology to create videos on various issues.

“The videos released by the Chief Minister are not the original ones. These are deepfake videos. AI technology is being used to create such deepfake videos,” said Panda at a presser on May 14.
