The third accused in the razor attack case in Odisha capital that left seven persons with bleeding injuries on their necks and faces on Sunday surrendered before the police here today.
The accused identified as Bharat Panda, an employee of a private firm surrendered before Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhubaneswar Satyabrata Bhoi at his office this evening.
Panda surrendered before the DCP accompanied by his legal counsel, sources revealed.
Panda who was absconding ever since after the attacks were hiding at a relative’s house in Niali and apprehending police raid at the place surrendered before the police, the sources added.
Sources said the three-member gang was earlier involved in incidents of snatching.
Earlier, while police had arrested Amit Mohapatra, a law student, on the day of the incident, another accused Ashish Behera, an engineering graduate, was arrested from Kendrapara today.
Police are interrogating Panda on the gang’s motive behind the attacks.
“We will be in a better position to tell about their motive apart from money which was apparent after interrogating all of them,” informed Twin City Police Commissioner Y B Khurania.
Notably, the trio astride a numberless black Pulsar motor bike had allegedly attacked and slit throats of as many as seven people on Baramunda-Siripur road here on Sunday evening. The attackers attacked their victims using a straight razor traditionally used for shaving.
