This Bollywood actor helps 170 Odia women migrants to return home

Bhubaneswar: Amid the lockdown 4.0 across the country, as many as 170 young women from Odisha stranded in Kerala will be able to arrive here tomorrow in a special plane. All thanks to Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who is playing a pivotal role in ensuring early return of these Odia women migrants.

Official sources said the young women were working at a garment factory in Ernakulam district. However, after the nationwide lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the young women resigned from their jobs.

As the lockdown is still in force, the Odia young women were unable to return to their home state. After a Twitterati brought the attention of Odisha Cadre IPS officer Arun Bothra who in turn talked to Sood, a glimmer of hope for the early return of the 170 Odia young women emerged.

Initially, it was decided to bring back the 170 Odia young women by bus or train from Ernakulam. But Sood proposed to send them in a special plane and accordingly a decision was taken.

Worth mentioning, Sood has been drawing praises from different quarters for helping migrants to reach their home States. Earlier, the Bollywood actor helped 700 migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar stranded ion Mumbai to return to their home states.
