Kendrapara: Architectural designs of Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, which was earlier proposed for redevelopment, surfaced today.
A source said that the ambitious development and beautification project would include an Information and Interpretation Centre along with its Main Gate. The Interpretation Centre at Dangamal will have exclusive galleries for Olive Ridleys, saltwater crocodiles, birds, and mangroves with 7D Theatre and an aquarium. This will also have a massive facelift of Jetties at Khola, Gupti, Dangamal and Jaynagar ghats with ticketing counters, snack corners, toilets, restrooms and parking spaces etc.
The addition of floating jetties will be an important feature along with a tower meant for viewing the lush green mangrove forest and the waterscape, the source added.
It is pertinent to mention: the State government previously sanctioned Rs 59 crore for the development and beautification of the park and to make it an attractive tourist destination.
The proposed infrastructure projects include the construction of a dry dock facility at Rs 30 lakh at Gupti, Rs 3.15 crore for setting up of a plaza and parking lots at the entry point of Dangamal crocodile breeding centre, Rs 9.23 crore for the construction of a jetty at Gupti, Rs 14.38 crore for an interpretation centre at Dangamal, Rs 7.79 crore for a Craft Bazaar and food court at Dangamal, Rs 6.87 crore for a jetty at Chandabali and Rs 6.66 crore for a jetty at Khola.
