This Odisha district announces reward for info on sex determination

Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration announced reward for persons who will inform about sex determination practices in the district. During a meeting on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques District Advisory Committee, Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange declared Rs 1,000 each will be given under the Child Development Scheme to the persons who provide information about sex determination in the district. The name of the concerned persons will be kept secret, the Collector added.

Also, a decision was taken to collect data on pregnant women and special teams will be formed to inquire whether allowances and benefits provided by the State government are reaching the beneficiaries in the district. The Ganjam Collector directed the advisory committee to ensure that the steps taken to stop female foeticide are implemented.

Anganwadi, ASHA workers and ANMs must perform their duties well and create awareness about the importance of girl babies in the society, he added.
