This Odisha district to celebrate ‘Chhenapoda Diwas’ on April 11

Bhubaneswar: The district administration in Nayagarh has decided to celebrate ‘Bishwa Chhenapoda Diwas’ on April 11.

Nayagarh Collector Rabindra Nath Sahu has written to all the government offices in the district to celebrate ‘Bishwa Chhenapoda Diwas’ on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sudarsan Sahoo on April 11.

It is believed that Sahoo had first prepared ‘Chhenapoda’, a popular sweet dish in Odisha.

The Collector has asked all the government offices in the district to cut ‘Chhenapoda’ at 11 am on April 11 in the presence of employees and common people.

The offices have been asked to upload the photos of the celebration to the WhatsApp group ‘Team Nayagarh’.

Notably, the Nayagarh district administration has applied for GI tag to ‘Chhenapoda’.

It is worth mentioning here that visiting dignitaries are often served Chhenapoda at the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar.

The Chief Minister gifted the popular sweet dish to his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee during her recent visit to Odisha.
