Berhampur: Amid upsurge in Covid cases, the Ganjam district administration today requested the Health and Family Welfare department to permit it set up four Dedicated Covid Health Centres the district.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange in a letter to Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department, PK Mohapatra said the four DCHCs will have a combined capacity of 250 beds.

One 100-bedded DCHC will come up at City Hospital, Berhmapur and another 50-bedded covid hospital at the SDH Hinjilicut new building. Also, another 50-bedded dedicated Covid health centre at Leprosy Hospital building, Babanpur, Aska will be set up. One more such hospital has been planned to be established at DCHC Bhanjanagar, the Collector proposed.

The Ganjam Collector further requested the Additional Chief Secretary to allow the district administration to engage the required number of doctors and other health workers for the DCHCs.

He also sought funds towards drugs and logistics, equipment and instruments, diet, support services and other day to day management expenses of the DCHCs.
