Odisha government employees can avail three days leave to cast their votes in the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections in the state.
The State Election Commission (SEC) had apprised the state government on this account. The state government has approved the SEC’s proposal.
Further, the Panchayati Raj department has directed all District Collectors to declare the concerned day on which polling will be held in the concerned panchayat/block as a public holiday.
Notably, February 12,15,17,19 and 21 has been announced as polling day for the three-tier panchayat elections in the state.
The SEC had written to the state government to provide an opportunity to its employees to cast their votes in the panchayat polls.
State government employees, employees of state-owned corporations and boards, employees of state government-affiliated firms will be eligible to avail three days leave to cast their votes.
State government employees can apply to their higher authorities to avail the three days leave facility-one day before the polling day, one day on the polling day and one day after the polling day.
