In a shocking incident, three members of a family were today found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mundiguda village under Korukonda block in Odisha’s Malkangiri.

Bodies of a couple and their daughter were found hanging. While the bodies of the mother and child were found hanging inside the house that of the husband was found hanging from a tree outside the couple’s house.

On finding the bodies hanging, villagers informed the police. Police have seized the bodies and begun investigations in the case.

Local sources said the family had yesterday visited Sukma in neighbouring Chhattisgarh to attend a feast.

However, it’s not yet clear if it’s a case of murder or suicide. The incident is suspected to have taken place yesterday night.

"Bodies of the father, mother and their one-year-old child  of a family of Mundiguda were found hanging. We are investigating the matter. Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple had a fight over some issue. The man after killing his wife and child has hanged their bodies inside the house and then committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree outside the house," said Rajkishore Das, IIC Malkangiri speaking to reporters.

The couple has another  daughter, who is alive, the sources added.
