Nabarangpur: At least three persons died, and a woman sustained injuries as a car in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree on Umerkote-Jharigaon road near Basini Chhak in Odisha's Nabarangpur district, late last night.

According to reports, all of them were returning home in the ill-fated vehicle from Jagdalpur after attending a wedding event.

The driver of the car lost control over the wheels, following which it got dashed against the tree.

While the three died on the spot under the impact of the collision, the woman was grievously injured in the accident.

She was rescued and taken to the Koraput District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
