Three manual scavengers were today asphyxiated inside a septic tank at Kuduni village under Paralakhemundi police limits in Ganjam district of Odisha while cleaning it. Another co-worker fell unconscious owing which he was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Hari Behera, Minakhi Behera and Chandra Sekhar Sahoo whereas the survivor has been identified as Prasad Behera.

He was rushed to a local hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to Srikakulam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

His condition was stated to be out of danger.
