On Tuesday, police has arrested six medical students, on charges of manhandling a journalist, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and an auto-rickshaw driver.
Agitated medical students had on Tuesday day night surrounded Baidyanathpur police station and had also stopped work in protest.
To prevent medical services from being obstructed the Medical College authorities have made alternative arrangements and senior doctors have been asked to attend emergency services.
Yesterday, the arrested six students had not appealed for bail, therefore they have been forwarded to judicial remand. After the news of the arrests came, the medicos had stopped work and marched to the police station. To prevent any untoward incident a platoon of police force was deployed.
On January 29, in a fracas between medical students and an auto driver and a person accompanying him, they were allegedly thrashed by the medicos. When a journalist Sunil Kumar Sahu went there to enquire about the incident he was also allegedly beaten up, while a police officer who came to help him also got manhandled.
Five cases have been registered against the incident in Baidyanathpur police station and investigations have begun into the matter.
