Three nursing homes sealed, ultrasound machine seized in Odisha’s Cuttack city

A day after some fetuses were found in the nearby areas of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city, the district administration has conducted a series of raids on several nursing homes and diagnostic centres.

Talking to the media, Cuttack district collector Nirmal Mishra said the two teams, led by Cuttack sub collector and additional tehsildar, on Sunday raided 11 nursing homes and diagnostic centres in the city. During the raid, three nursing homes were sealed and an ultrasound machine was seized sealed after the concerned staff failed to provide relevant documents.

The three nursing homes, sealed by the administration, are Asirbad Nursing Home at Link Road, Gastro Care at Mangalabag and Ultra Hospital at Jagatpur, sources in the office of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) said, adding that the team also seized an ultrasound machine from the Ultra Hospital.

“The raids have begun on November 29 a day after more than 15 fetuses were found at the Barrage Colony area near the SCB Hospital. The administration would not spare any one involved in such unethical and illegal activities”, said Cuttack district collector Nirmal Mishra.
