Three Odisha cops suspended over custodial death

Sundergarh: Disciplinary action has been taken against three policemen in connection with the death of a man in custody of Dharuadihi police station in Odisha’s Sundergarh district.

Sundergarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Saumya Mishra today suspended ASI Binod Chandra Patel and two constables Baikuntha Nayak and Jayram Madhel attached to the same police station in this regard.

Worth mentioning, a special team of Sundergarh police had arrested one Sunil Lodhi from Sagar area of Madhya Pradesh on charges of buying the girl from Sundergarh district and later marrying her forcefully.

He was supposed to be produced before the court on July 20, but was found dead the previous night with ligature mark on the neck.
