Three from Odisha win National Child Awards

These budding talents from Odisha have once again made the state proud. The trio has bagged awards from President Pranab Mukherjee here for their outstanding achievements on the occasion of Children’s day today.

The three Odias won Silver Medal in the category: ‘National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement, 2016’. While Parthasarathi Jena, Subhendu Kumar Sahu won medals for Art and Innovation, Sovesh Mohapatra received the award in Innovation category. Though Mohapatra resides in Rajasthan, he hails from Odisha.

The trio is among the 31 children in the age group of 5-18 who have been honoured. They were bestowed with a Silver Medal, certificate and a cheque of Rs 10, 000 each. The award comprises of only one Gold Medal in the list of 31 children.

President Pranab Mukherjee gave away 42 awards to children as well as child welfare institutions for their exceptional achievements. The awards were given in three categories- National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements, National Awards for Child Welfare and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award.

The National Awards for Child Welfare for 2015 were given to five institutions and three individuals in the field of child development and child welfare, which includes cash prize of Rs.3, 00, 000 to each institution and Rs.1, 00, 000 to each individual.

The winners in the institutions category: Help (Society for Help Entire lower and rural People), Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (SPYM), Birsa Munda Archery Academy, Cuddles Foundation and Yuwa Jagruti

The winners in the individual ategory: Sangita Vardhan (Chandigarh), K. R. Ravi (Kerala) and Dr. Bikas Ray (Tripura).

The Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Awards for 2016 were given to three individuals for outstanding contribution towards service for Children, which include cash prize of Rs.1, 00, 000 a certificate and a silver plaque. The winners were: Devesh Nath Dikshit (Bihar), Bandana Kumari (Jharkhand) and Yesu.S (Kerala).
