Bhubaneswar: A three-tier security arrangement will be in place for the first session of the 17th Odisha Assembly in the capital city here beginning July 22 (Monday).
As many as 30 platoons of police force will be deployed near Odisha Assembly and Lower PMG in the city here as part of the security arrangement, said Director General of Police (in-charge) Arun Kumar Sarangi today.
“The entire stretch from Master Canteen Square to Odisha Assembly will be under CCTV surveillance. Armed police personnel will be deployed at the entry and exit point of the Assembly,” added the DGP.
Apart from this, the Odisha police will deploy dog squad, bomb disposal squad and personnel of strike force as well as elite Special Operation Group (SOG) to provide foolproof security for the Assembly session, he revealed.
The authorities may divert traffic on all roads connecting the Assembly. A DCP-rank officer, an Additional DCP-rank officer, 19 ACP-rank officers, 24 police inspectors, 85 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors and at least two quick action teams will also guard Odisha Assembly and its immediate vicinity, said the DGP.
Notably, the first session of 17th Odisha Assembly will continue till September 13 with a break from August 1 to 19.
The BJP government in Odisha is scheduled to present its maiden Budget in the Assembly on July 25.
