Three timber smugglers held in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: The Forest personnel arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in cutting timbers illegally and seized a large number of timber pieces from them in Dabugaon forest division of Nabarangpur district today. The accused are Sushant Panaka of Naga Jodi village, Chen Singh Jani and Kapilas Pujari of Haladi village.

Acting on a tip off, the Forest personnel raided the house of Sushant and seized timber pieces kept in large numbers. They also seized two electric saws from his house.

An official said the estimated cost of the seized timber pieces would be more than Rs 40,000. Sushant has been forwarded to court following his arrest, the official added.

In another incident, when Chen Singh and Kapilas were returning from the Anchal reserve forest along with 20 timbers, Forest personnel patrolling in the forest caught hold of the duo.
