Thunderstorm warning for 11 Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre today issued thunderstorm warning for 11 districts of Odisha for today.

“The moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm,” said weather scientist LD Mohapatra in a release.

Besides, amidst scorching heat, people of Odisha are likely to have relief as thunderstorm warning has been issued for several districts during the next few days.

“The thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Khordha between March 14 and March 15,” the Bhubaneswar MeT said in a bulletin.

“The thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal and Khordha between March 15 and 16,” the bulletin stated.

However, no rain warning has been issued for Odisha from March 16 morning upto next day morning.

The thundersquall with lightning is on the cards for the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack between March 17 and 18. The thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places in north Odisha, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam and Kandhamal districts on the same days.

The MeT predicted thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal between March 18 and 19.
