Thunderstorm warning issued for 5 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind is likely to occur in five districts of Odisha between 4.15 pm and 8.15 pm today, the local meteorological centre predicted.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely to occur over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal between 4.15 pm and 8.15 pm,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.

Notably, thunderstorm had wreaked havoc in Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts yesterday damaging several house. Many trees were also uprooted due to the nature’s fury. Severe hailstorm was also reported in Balasore district.
