Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted thunderstorm with lightning in 11 districts in Odisha on August 12 (tomorrow).
The cyclonic circulation over northeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northwest Bihar persists at 3.1 km above mean sea level. The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Baharaich, Muzaffarpur, Balurghat and thence eastwards towards Manipur. A trough runs from east Bihar to northwest Bay of Bengal across West Bengal up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level, said the IMD regional centre here in its weather bulletin today.
As per the prediction, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Boudh on August 12 (Saturday). The MeT department has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at a few places over the remaining districts of Odisha on Saturday, said the IMD.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Rayagada on August 13 (Sunday).
Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha on Sunday, added the IMD.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nabarangpur and Ganjam in the last 24 hours.
