Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in 20 Odisha districts on August 27; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over at least 20 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, IMD regional centre said, “The western end of monsoon trough continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas and its eastern end at mean sea level now passes through Shahjahanpur, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, Bankura and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. A trough runs from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Northeast Bay of Bengal between 4.5 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha

Highest maximum temperature of 33.0oC was recorded at Paralakhemundi, Malkangiri and Titilagarh. The lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.5oC was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.
