Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in 20 Odisha districts on September 24; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over 20 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning for next three days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Satna, Purulia, Krishnanagar and thence eastwards to Manipur. The cyclonic circulation over west Jharkhand and neighbourhood now lies over Southwest Bihar and neighbourhood extending up to 4.5 Km above mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman sea and neighbourhood on 29th September. Under its influence a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north Andaman sea and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours. Conditions are becoming favourable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from parts of West Rajasthan from around 25th September.”

Well Marked Low Pressure Area likely to intensify into Depression over BoB during next 24 hours

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and at many places over the rest districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 34.0^oC was recorded at Nayagarh and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.6^oC was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
