Time flies: Watch child artist Sunmeera play lead in Laila O Laila

Bhubaneswar: The wide-eyed, bubbly 15-year-old, Sunmeera Nagesh is all excited about her upcoming Odia movie ‘Laila O Laila’ slated for this Friday release.

She will be seen in a bold and fearless avatar in this movie directed by Sushant Mani. “The girl I am playing is full of attitude, bold and tomboyish. A complete ‘Bindaas‘ type girl, who even proposes the love of her life,” she said.

Her character in ‘Laila O Laila’, is a complete opposite of the reticent girl she played in her first movie ‘Sapana Ra Pathe Pathe’. “Laila O Laila was the first movie that I had signed, but ‘Sapana Ra Pathe Pathe’ was the first to get shot and released. I was a little raw in the first movie, but slowly I am learning to get into the skin of the character and understand a scene,” said this Class X student, who is preparing for her pre-board exams.

However, Sunmeera is not new to facing the camera having acted as a child artist in ‘Suna Chadhei Mo Rupa Chadhei’, ‘Akashe Ki Ranga Lagila’, ‘Alo Mora Kandhei’ and ‘Shapath’.

She learnt to drive a car for ‘Laila O Laila’. “Though my director had asked me to learn driving before the shoot, I was too preoccupied with classes and tuition. The art director taught me to ride scooter on the sets,” said the starlet, who has been paired opposite Swaraj in the movie.

She also had to shed some kilos for the movie. “I was a little on the bulky side and had to work out to get into shape for the movie, where I also had to perform an item number ‘Raa Re Raaghaba’,” she said, adding that she love to dance.

After a not so enthusiastic repose to her first movie, Sunmeera is hopeful of making an impression with ‘Laila O Laila’. “The promotional activities are keeping me busy now,” she said.

With board exams round the corner, she had to let go of two movie offers. “I will concentrate on my Class X board at the moment. Acting is what I want to pursue alongside studies,” signed off this youngest actress in Ollywood at present.
