Toddler gets stuck inside pitcher in Odisha; rescued

Banki: A family encountered a nightmare last night after a toddler got stuck inside a steel pitcher (water storage container) here in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The incident occurred at Nuagaon village under Banki block on Friday evening.

Though the child was rescued after a long-hour effort by the Fire services personnel, the incident created a stressful situation in the area.

According to reports, a two-and-half-year baby boy was trapped inside a middle-size pitcher while he was playing near the house last evening. He tried hard to come out of the container, but failed. After hearing the child’s crying, his family members rushed to the place and tried to rescue him. The neighbours also made attempts to get him out from the pitcher. However, all their efforts went in vain.

With no option left, they finally called up the Fire services personnel seeking their help. On receiving information, a team of officials reached the village and rescued the baby by cutting the pitcher very carefully with their equipment.

The panicked mother of the child was found taking her child into the house by holding him tightly in her arms after the team successfully cut the pitcher.

The condition of the victim is stated to be normal following the incident.
