While Ashok Tripathy has been put in charge of Nuapada district, Upendranath Behera has been vested with the responsibility for Malkangiri district, R Balakrishna for Nabarangpur district and Aditya Prasad Padhi for Kandhamal district, sources said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will review the progress of developmental work in these districts every month, the sources added.

Apart from acute poverty, lack of infrastructure, communication facilities, low literacy rate, high infant and mother mortality rate have been huge concerns in these tribal dominated districts. Even though both central and state governments have announced special packages to change the face of these districts, the ground realities have not changed much owing to improper implementation of the schemes.
