Bhubaneswar, June 12:

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram today said that the government is giving emphasis on the economic development of the youth, particularly tribal youth, by imparting vocational training in various sectors to them.

“The Centre is interested to impart vocational training and enhance the capacity building that can help the youth in rural and urban areas to improve their economic background,” said Oram, who visited the Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) at Rasulgarh here.

Oram also interacted with the students, who are learning skills in apparel design here.

ATDC was established in 2007 as the first such centre in the state. It conducts both flagship and core courses and also runs customized programs for different state sponsoring agencies.

ATDC has nine centres in the state, including the one in Bhubaneswar. The other eight centres are in Baripada, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Berhampur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
