Jeypore: People in Koraput district of Odisha were in for a delight as the special vistadome coach rolled out to Jeypore here today after the Railways introduced the facility following longstanding demand from the public and tourists. The special coach, with glass roof, transparent window panes and 360 degree rotatable seats, will be attached to the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Express and will be a huge asset for tourism in the region as the state-of-the art coach is designed to provide passengers with travel comfort and enhanced viewing experience of their surroundings.

The vistadome coach  will not just allow passengers in Odisha to have a unique travelling experience to various tourist sites but also those in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It will cover border areas of Andhra Pradesh like Araku valley and Borra caves, Macchkund, Sabar Srikhetra, Maliguda and Jeypore in Odisha, and Tiratgarh and Chitrakoot in Chhattisgarh.

The introduction of the coach got a rousing welcome in Koraput as the special facility was earlier confined to specific popular sites like Kashmir Valley, Siliguri, Pune, Bangalore and Mumbai. But thanks to the initiative by the Railways, people from remote stations like Kotpad, Kusumi, Dhanpur, Chatadiput in Koraput can also have access to the unique travelling experience. “This is a beautiful experience. I am travelling with my grandson upto Visakhapatnam. This is a beautiful coach. All it needs is extra hygiene and a food court to make it a more exquisite affair for travllers,” said one of the passengers Manju.

Vistadome coaches were introduced in 2017 but then the route was confined from Visakhapatnam to Araku. Five years later, the route extended to Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Hailing the launch of the coach, people in Koraput expressed their thanks to the Railway Minister and the Central Government.
