Tourist drowns in sea at Chandrabhaga

In a tragic incident, a female tourist drowned to death in the sea at Chandrabhaga near Konark in Odisha’s Puri district today.

A male tourist who was on the verge of drowning was, however, rescued though in a critical state.

The deceased has been identified as Mansa, an IT professional and a resident of Bengaluru in Karnataka.

According to reports, the mishap occurred while nine tourists-six young women and three young men -all from Mindtree, a Bengaluru-based software company were taking bath in the sea at Chandrabhaga. Mansa was swept away by the strong current in the sea. Her body was later fished out by local fishermen.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Sources close to the group said the youths are currently undergoing training at Mindtree’s facility in Bhubaneswar.
