Tragic! COVID-19 claims 3 lives of a family in Odisha

Berhampur: Seems like novel coronavirus has begun playing a deadly innings in Odisha after the worst-hit States like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi as the virus ravaged a single family by killing 3 of its members in less than a week in COVID-19 hotspot district Ganjam.

The incident sent a shock wave among residents in Digapahandi area of the southern Odisha district.

According to reports, a man namely Jitendra Patra, son of Krushna Chandra Patra, was running an electronics store at bus stand in Digapahandi. He along with his parents and wife was residing near the area. Recently, the entire family members were admitted to a COVID hospital in Sitalapali after they tested positive for COVID-19.

In battle against the virus, Jitendra’s mother Janaki Patra first succumbed to the disease on July 15 morning. After 4 days on Sunday, he lost his father. Less than 24 hours of his father’s death due to COVID-19, he passed away late on Monday night at the hospital. Only his wife survived the coronavirus and was discharged from hospital after getting recovered from the disease.
