Tragic! Man killed, daughter critical in road mishap in Odisha

Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a man was killed and his daughter sustained critical injuries after a truck hit the bike they were riding here today.

The deceased was identified as Chittaranjan Swain (41), a resident of Bhejigotha village under Jenapur police limits of Jajpur district.

His daughter Abhilipsa (15) was rushed to Badachana Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition and later shifted to Bhubaneswar.

The incident occurred at around 11.00 am near Baghua Square Chandikhole-Duburi route on NH 53 when Swain, an employee of Mukundapatra Degree College, was travelling on his bike with his daughter from Balisahi to Brahmani for music class.

According to reports, the truck that was coming from opposite side hit the bike killing Swain on the spot.

On receiving the information, the police and fire service personnel reached the site and rescued victims. They rushed them to Badachana CHC where Swain was declared brought dead. His daughter was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after her condition deteriorated.
