Koraput: Tragedy struck a small village in Koraput district on the occasion of Raja celebrations with death of three persons of a family by a truck while they were sleeping at their house at night.

The deceased persons include a man and his wife and their 8-year-old daughter.

The incident took place late on Friday night at Bhejaput village in Damanjodi tehsil of Koraput district.

According to reports, the couple along with their children including a son was sleeping at their house when a sand-laden truck rammed into the house killing three on the spot.

However, the couple's 14-year-old son had a narrow escape in the incident.

The irate locals blocked Damanjodi-Bhejaput road by burning tyres demanding compensation to the kin of the deceased persons.
