Tragic: Two girl students meet watery grave in Odisha

Nilagiri: In a tragic incident, two girl students met a watery grave and another one is critical after they entered into a pond for taking bath here this morning.

The deceased were identified as Banashree Behera, daughter of Basant Behera of Baligahiri village, and Jyotirekha Moharana, the daughter of Parameswar Moharana of Kahalia village under Nilagiri NAC in Balasore district.

Both the deceased were aged about 12 years old.

Another girl student, who is critical, is identified as Ishwari Barik, the daughter of Manoranjan Barik of the same locality.

According to reports, the three minor girls had been to a nearby place for tuition together in the morning. After returning from the tuition, three friends took bath in a pond near Basant Behera’s residence.

However, they fell into water one after another after their legs slipped.

The locals at the site entered into the water to rescue the girls. Later, the victims were rushed to the Berhampur Community Health Centre (CHC) where the doctors declared Banashree and Jyotirekha dead.

Till the last report came in, another student Ishwari was battling for life in the hospital.
