Tragic! Woman, 14-YO daughter succumb to snakebite in Odisha

Nuapada: A pall of gloom fell on a family in Dharambandha area of Nuapada district after two of its members died in a snakebite today.

The deceased persons have been identified as Nirasha Sabar (34) and her daughter Sabita Sabar (14) of Kendubahara village under Dharambandha police limits in Nuapada.

According reports, Nirasha and her minor daughter were sleeping together after having dinner yesterday night when a poisonous snake stung the mother-daughter duo.

Source said that the snake had bit the teen first while she was sleeping. After she complained of pain caused by snakebite, her mother woke up and found a snake near her. When she tried to pacify the venomous reptile, the latter also stung her.

The family members rushed the mother-daughter duo in a critical condition to the District Headquarters Hospital from where they were referred to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla, Sambalpur. However, both mother and daughter succumbed to snakebite on their way to the hospital.
