Paralakhemundi: Two lives tragically ended after a woman and her niece drowned in Harabhangi dam near Budhadiha village in Paniganda Gram Panchayat under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district on Friday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Ibani Mandal and Ismanjali Sabar.

As per information, Ibani and Ismanjali went out to take bath in Harabhangi dam last evening but did not return after that. Worried, their family members walked out searching  for them but to no avail. Today morning, some locals spotted two bodies floating in the dam and immediately called up Adaba police. Soon after, the police along with a firefighting team from Mohana reached the spot and recovered the bodies.

The families identified the bodies following which, police filed a case in connection with the incident and initiated an inquiry.
